Independence Day celebration at the school is a treasured memory for many. We ensured that the fervour of patriotism lives on, and Celebrated Independence Day. But at a time where such celebrations cannot occur due to safety reasons, We opted for an innovative way to honour the day by inviting only our Staff for the Flag Hosting and took all precautionary measures like social distancing.Principal also gave speech regarding the tribute and sacrifice of the great Indian fighters who gave their life for an independent nation.

Day 1- Few more glimpses of Spardha-The Contest
Students of Doon World School got a day of leisure as they got a chance to visit FRI Dehradun. Forest Research Institute, popularly known as FRI is spread over 2000 acres of scenic and calm green fields lined with rows of trees. FRI has six different museums which are famous world over.
Toddlers of Play group and KG played different games in the bright soothing sunlight. They danced to the tunes of guitar and sang beautiful songs. Accompanied by their teachers they traversed through the greenry and viewed sections of the museum. After having their lunch and refreshments they returned back to school singing poems in the bus.
A workshop for teachers on how to manage stress in a classroom was held at Doon World School, Raksha Vihar. The workshop was organized by Times NIE and conducted by renowned psychologist Dr. Veena Krishnan. Introducing Dr. Veena Krishnan, Principal Santosh Kotiyal underlined the need of keeping oneself stress free so that duties can be discharged to the best of one’s potential. Dr. Krishnan told the teachers that proper diet, meditation and sufficient sleep are necessary to keep us free of stress. She said that anger and frustration should never be bottled up; instead, one should take deep breath and let all the negative emotions flow out. We should face the adverse circumstances with a positive approach. She motivated the teachers to explore ways to burn out the stress. This workshop was part of the motivational initiative taken by Doon World School for its stakeholders
The Annual Fete of Doon World School, Raksha Vihar was held on Saturday, 21st Dec. 2019. The fete commenced at 11:00 AM and ended around 3:00 PM. Mr. Umesh Sharma Kau, MLA Raipur inaugurated the fete. The Teachers put up various food and games stalls. The parents and students started assembling in the school ground even before the fete started. Principal Santosh Kotiyal said that the objective behind organizing this event was to help the teachers and students develop managerial skills, respond to different circumstances and understand the importance of cooperation and collaboration.
The students, parents and visitors enjoyed various palatable regional, Indian, Chinese and other dishes. The games stalls also drew a good number of visitors. The Mickey Mouse was the biggest attraction for the children. Visitors tried their steps on the dance floor and dedicated songs to their loved ones. The beautiful Christmas Tree and moving model of Santa Claus became a selfi-point for all. There was a very good footfall at the fete. The parents expressed their happiness over the initial taken by the school and hoped that the same continues in future also.
The school celebrated 71st Republic Day of India with traditional enthusiasm. Dr. Vipin Vaish, renowned pediatrician was the chief guest to the occasion. The function began with the unfurling of National Flag by the chief guest. The students presented several cultural programmes including patriotic songs and dances. Dr. Vaish, in his address on the occasion appealed the students to focus on their studies and grow up to be ideal citizens. The Principal Santosh Kotiyal said that the students should build their own opinion regarding different issues rather than following the crowed blindly. The school Chairman Mr. Mandeep Dang, activity co ordinator Mrs. Vandana Narang, Kailash Dhyani, Saurabh Nailwal, Deepak Rawat, Reena Negi, and Akanksha Verma were present on the occasion along with the entire staff and students. Sara Siddiqui and Shaswati anchored the function.
An Eye Care Camp was organized in school for students and staff. The camp was organized by the team of Shree Eye Care, Dehradun. The team conducted different eye tests with the help of modern medical equipments to find out if there was a threat to the eyesight of any of the students or staff members. A detailed student-wise report was prepared based on the results of the tests. The principal appreciated the efforts of Shree Eye Care for making some serious efforts towards keeping the eye sight of the children healthy.
Independence Day was celebrated in school with traditional fervor and enthusiasm. The Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal hoisted the National Flag. He, in his address on the occasion, reminded the students, the teachers and the guests, of the cherished values and great traditions of India as well as the great advancements made by us in different fields. To add to the patriotic passion an Inter House Patriotic group Song Competition was also held on this occasion. Students from all the four Houses presented patriotic songs using all their singing skills. The Ruby House outstripped others with their splendid singing skills. School Director Mrs. Veena Kaliya and the Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal judged the presentations.

The Inter house doha competition was held on 15th July 2017. The four houses prepared dohas of one Poet each as follows:
1. Emerald : Rahim Das
2. Topaz : Tulsidas
3. Ruby: Vrind
4. Sapphire: Kabirdas
The dohas were sung to music & their meaning were also explained to the audience by the participating team. It was a keenly contested event in which Emerald house emerge the winner.
The children of Class V presented a skit on the importance of celebrating various occasions in life. It focused on the fact that in this age of Social Media, celebrations are very important because they bring people together physically, rather only on the internet. The skit was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
The Inter Class English Group Poetry Recitation Competition was held on 6th May 2017. Classes competed in two categories i.e I-V (Junior Group) VI-IX (Senior Group). The children recited well known poems like ” The Bazaars of Hyderabad”, “Old Macdonald had a farm” etc. The competition was keenly contested & the results were as follows:
Junior Group- 1st – Class I 2nd- Class II
Senior Group- 1st – Class VII 2nd- Class VIII
The Inter House Hindi One Act Play Competition was held on 14th July 2018. The theme of each play was a contemporary issue. The participants put their best in their acting and it was amazing to see several students performing so brilliantly like experienced actors. The Emerald House bagged the first position for their play ‘Reedh ki Haddi’presenting the theme of gender discrimination. The Topaz House presented their play ‘Kathputli based on the theme ‘Every child is special’. They stood second. The third position was secured by the Sapphire House for showing the theme of superstition in their play Andhvishwas. The Ruby House showed the menace of overuse of internet and social networking sites in the play Cyber Addiction. The efforts of the different House teachers and students were commendable.
All the acts were well organized and wonderfully staged. The Chairman of school Management Committee Mr. Mandeep Dang, Academic Director Mrs. Veena Kaliya and Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal expressed their happiness over the commendable hard work and fruitful efforts of all the concerned teachers and students.
The children of class IV upwards ran a marathon race on a road route of distance 1.3 kms in the residential area near the school on 3rd November, 2017. The result were as follows:

Four students of the School- Gurpreet and Gunmeet Singh of class IX, Manpreet Kaur of class VIII and Manpreet Singh of class VII sang the Shabad Gurubani to commemorate Guru Nanak Jayanti. After the singing of the Gurubani Kadaha Prasad was also distributed to the whole School.
Doon World School celebrated its 4th Annual Sports Day on 11th November. Mr. Ashok Kumar, ADG police (Law & Order) graced the occasion as a Chief Guest.
The other Guests of Honour present were Mr. Sanjay Gupta, the President of the Doon Hotel Owners’ Association, Mr. Dhirender Panwar, O.S.D to the C.M of Uttarakhand, and Mr. Sunil Uniyal Gama leader of the B.J.P.
The programme was opened by senior girls with a Bharatnatyam dance. Various kinds of P.T displays, fun races, a pyramids show and a karate show were pot up.

The students of pre-primary wing visited Maharana Pratap Sports college on 17th Nov’17.
The young kids visited different facilities like the Hockey Pavilion and Athletic tracks. They also visited the International Cricket Stadium which has a capacity of 25,000 spectators. The future sports stars showed their skills with balls and took a step further to make a name for themselves in the world of sports.
The students had an awesome day full of excitement and thrill on Saturday, May 21. A picnic to Camp Song Brook, a beautiful picnic spot near Dehradun, was organised for the students. The whole place with lush green wooded hills and sparkling rivers was a treat to the eye and soul. The splash pool was such a respite from the scorching heat of May. Despite extreme heat, the students enjoyed the adventure sports like net climbing, rope gliding, swimming and the fun and excitement was palpable.
Investiture ceremony is one of the most important events in schools because a few students take the very first step towards becoming future leaders.
The newly elected representatives of the student council were invested with responsibilities at a graceful investiture ceremony held on Friday 27th July.
Mr. Harak Singh Rawat, Addl. Commissioner, Garhwal range was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Oath of office was administered by the Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal. Badges were pinned up and sashes were presented to the new council members by guests and parents.
Mr. Rawat, in his speech on the occasion, highlighted the characteristics of a good leader. He also made an earnest appeal to the parents, teachers and students to keep their surroundings clean by disposing off the garbage in a scientific manner.
The children of the pre primary section visited the Dehradun Fire Station at Gandhi Road on Monday, 4th Sept ’17. The fire personnel gave them age appropriate inputs about fire fighting including the process of communication in the event of a fire accident. They were shown the fire engines and also got a chance to hold and operate the fire hoses and showers, and were delighted by it.

A ‘Splash Bash’ Pool Party was organised for the children of the Pre-primary wing on 18th May 2018 . A suitable set up was prepared to make the event truly enjoyable for the young kids. Tables were arranged with colourful umbrellas to add ambience to the party. Children enjoyed the fun in the cool pool under the supervision of their teachers. The thrill and happiness in their eyes while wading into the splash pool, was so pleasing. They enjoyed dance and music and had a lot of fun.
Summer fruit and healthy drink activity was held in the school for the pre primary wing. The students of Play Group, LKG and UKG brought different summer fruit and juices from their homes. The teachers explained to them the importance of eating seasonal fruits and drinking healthy juices. Students were also told about the nutritional value of different fruits and drinks and vitamins and fibers contained in them. The young scholars were told why they should wash the fruits well before they eat them. The children shared fruits and juices with one another and enjoyed the fun.
Inter House Hopscotch (class I – V) and Inter House badminton competition (class VI – X) were held under Club activities on Saturday, 12th May 2018. In Inter House Hopscotch competition (Boys) Naman of Ruby House bagged the Winner’s position. Laraib of Topaz House came out a winner in Girls category.
In Inter House Badminton Competition, Saksham Bisht of Sapphire House and Priyamvada of Ruby House came out winners in Boys and Girls single category respectively. Mixed Double contest was won by Vanshika and Arman of Topaz House.
At a glittering function held by TV100 on 3rd Aug ’17 in hotel Solitaire Doon World School were the proud winners of the award for being ” Best Emerging CBSE School” in Dehradun. It was a proud moment for the school when the Chairman Mr. Mandeep Dang and Principal Mr. Rajiv Nagalia received the award from the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat. The function was well attended by representatives of leading schools, colleges, and universities of Dehradun and was followed by a grand dinner for all the awardees.
The school celebrated Mothers’ Day on 12th May 2018 with lots of grace and gratitude. This occasion provided an opportunity to pay tribute to all the mothers of the world and their selfless hard work to make this world a beautiful place to live in. The pre primary wing arranged several activities for the mothers. The students of LKG and UKG presented the song ‘Tu kitni achhi hai’. The students also presented skit, dance and poems to underline the importance of mother in our life. The mothers exhibited exemplary enthusiasm by participating in various fun games like Salad Chopping, bowl game, recognizing one’s own child with blindfold.
The week starting from Monday,31st July 2017 was observed as a Maths week in school. The senior maths teacher gave a talk to the children during assembly on the importance of maths in day to day life. The children of class VII also presented a skit on the same theme during assembly. All the classes starting from Play group visited the Maths lab during the week and were explained age appropriate mathematical concept by their teachers.
An Inter-house Quiz competition was held for classes V to IX on 5th May as part of club activities. The Quiz began with the introduction of the contestants from each House-team. Mrs. Suruchi Tiwari conducted the quiz in an interactive way. She announced the rules of the competition. The teams showed great enthusiasm and skills in answering the tricky quiz questions. Every time the teams answered incorrectly, the audience was given a chance to answer.
The questions were primarily focused on Labours day and Health & hygiene. The Rapid-fire round was a chance for the different teams to catch up with leaders. The teams put up a good contest to one another. The Emerald House performed better than others and was adjudged Winner. The Sapphire House bagged the second position.
