  • Eye Care Camp

    An Eye Care Camp was organized in school for students and staff. The camp was organized by the team of Shree Eye Care, Dehradun. The team conducted different eye tests with the help of modern medical equipments to find out if there was a threat to the eyesight of any of the students or staff members. A detailed student-wise report was prepared based on the results of the tests. The principal appreciated the efforts of Shree Eye Care for making some serious efforts towards keeping the eye sight of the children healthy.


    Independence Day was celebrated in school with traditional fervor and enthusiasm. The Principal 

    Mr. Santosh Kotiyal hoisted the National Flag. He, in his address on the occasion, reminded the students, 

    the teachers and the guests, of the cherished values and great traditions of India as well as the great 

    advancements made by us in different fields. To add to the patriotic passion an Inter House Patriotic 

    group Song Competition was also held on this occasion. Students from all the four Houses presented 
    patriotic songs using all their singing skills. The Ruby House outstripped others with their splendid 
    singing skills. School Director Mrs. Veena Kaliya and the Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal judged the

    This beautiful and insightful piece of wisdom can help us understand the importance of yoga in life, and more so in adolescence when a child's all-round development -- physical, emotional and social -- begins.



    The Inter house doha competition was held on 15th July 2017. The four houses prepared dohas of one Poet each as follows:

    1. Emerald : Rahim Das
    2. Topaz : Tulsidas 
    3. Ruby: Vrind
    4. Sapphire: Kabirdas

    The dohas were sung to music & their meaning were also explained to the audience by the participating team. It was a keenly contested event in which Emerald house emerge the winner.


    The children of Class V presented a skit on the importance of celebrating various occasions in life. It focused on the fact that in this age of Social Media, celebrations are very important because they bring people together physically, rather only on the internet. The skit was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.



    The Inter Class English Group Poetry Recitation Competition was held on 6th May 2017. Classes competed in two categories i.e I-V (Junior Group) VI-IX (Senior Group). The children recited well known poems like " The Bazaars of Hyderabad", "Old Macdonald had a farm" etc. The competition was keenly contested & the results were as follows:
    Junior Group- 1st - Class I 2nd- Class II
    Senior Group- 1st - Class VII 2nd- Class VIII


    Cow Appreciation Week
    The children of the Pre-Primary section visited a dairy on 27th October 2017 as part of the observance of the Cow Appreciation Week. They were shown cows, buffaloes and calves, and also the process of milking a cow. Body parts of the cow like the hooves, udders and horns etc. were also pointed out to them.

    During the week, the children also coloured and drew on cut-outs of cows and buffaloes.


    The children of class IV upwards ran a marathon race on a road route of distance 1.3 kms in the residential area near the school on 3rd November, 2017. The result were as follows:
    I- Prithvi Raj Dasauni - IX
    II- Gunmeet Singh - IX
    III-Uday Rajpal- VI

    I- Priyamvada Thapliyal - VI
    II- Zeenat Mirza- IX
    III- Akruti Khare - VIII


    Four students of the School- Gurpreet and Gunmeet Singh of class IX, Manpreet Kaur of class VIII and Manpreet Singh of class VII sang the Shabad Gurubani to commemorate Guru Nanak Jayanti. After the singing of the Gurubani Kadaha Prasad was also distributed to the whole School.


    Doon World School celebrated its 4th Annual Sports Day on 11th November. Mr. Ashok Kumar, ADG police (Law & Order) graced the occasion as a Chief Guest.

    The other Guests of Honour present were Mr. Sanjay Gupta, the President of the Doon Hotel Owners' Association, Mr. Dhirender Panwar, O.S.D to the C.M of Uttarakhand, and Mr. Sunil Uniyal Gama leader of the B.J.P.

    The programme was opened by senior girls with a Bharatnatyam dance. Various kinds of P.T displays, fun races, a pyramids show and a karate show were pot up. 
    The programme was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone


    The students of pre-primary wing visited Maharana Pratap Sports college on 17th Nov'17. 

    The young kids visited different facilities like the Hockey Pavilion and Athletic tracks. They also visited the International Cricket Stadium which has a capacity of 25,000 spectators. The future sports stars showed their skills with balls and took a step further to make a name for themselves in the world of sports..


    The students had an awesome day full of excitement and thrill on Saturday, May 21. A picnic to Camp Song Brook, a beautiful picnic spot near Dehradun, was organised for the students. The whole place with lush green wooded hills and sparkling rivers was a treat to the eye and soul. The splash pool was such a respite from the scorching heat of May. Despite extreme heat, the students enjoyed the adventure sports like net climbing, rope gliding, swimming and the fun and excitement was palpable.


    Investiture ceremony is one of the most important events in schools because a few students take the very first step towards becoming future leaders.

    The newly elected representatives of the student council were invested with responsibilities at a graceful investiture ceremony held on Friday 27th July.

    Mr. Harak Singh Rawat, Addl. Commissioner, Garhwal range was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Oath of office was administered by the Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal. Badges were pinned up and sashes were presented to the new council members by guests and parents. 

    Mr. Rawat, in his speech on the occasion, highlighted the characteristics of a good leader. He also made an earnest appeal to the parents, teachers and students to keep their surroundings clean by disposing off the garbage in a scientific manner.


    The children of the pre primary section visited the Dehradun Fire Station at Gandhi Road on Monday, 4th Sept '17. The fire personnel gave them age appropriate inputs about fire fighting including the process of communication in the event of a fire accident. They were shown the fire engines and also got a chance to hold and operate the fire hoses and showers, and were delighted by it.

  • ‘Splash Bash’ Pool Party

    The noisy geese that gabbled o'er the pool,
    The playful children just let loose from school.

    A ‘Splash Bash’ Pool Party was organised for the children of the Pre-primary wing on 18th May 2018 . A suitable set up was prepared to make the event truly enjoyable for the young kids. Tables were arranged with colourful umbrellas to add ambience to the party. Children enjoyed the fun in the cool pool under the supervision of their teachers. The thrill and happiness in their eyes while wading into the splash pool, was so pleasing. They enjoyed dance and music and had a lot of fun.

  • Summer Fruit And Healthy Drink Activity

    Summer fruit and healthy drink activity was held in the school for the pre primary wing. The students of Play Group, LKG and UKG brought different summer fruit and juices from their homes. The teachers explained to them the importance of eating seasonal fruits and drinking healthy juices. Students were also told about the nutritional value of different fruits and drinks and vitamins and fibers contained in them. The young scholars were told why they should wash the fruits well before they eat them. The children shared fruits and juices with one another and enjoyed the fun.


    The Inter House Hindi One Act Play Competition was held on 14th July 2018. The theme of each play was a contemporary issue. The participants put their best in their acting and it was amazing to see several students performing so brilliantly like experienced actors. The Emerald House bagged the first position for their play ‘Reedh ki Haddi’presenting the theme of gender discrimination. The Topaz House presented their play ‘Kathputli based on the theme ‘Every child is special’. They stood second. The third position was secured by the Sapphire House for showing the theme of superstition in their play Andhvishwas. The Ruby House showed the menace of overuse of internet and social networking sites in the play Cyber Addiction. The efforts of the different House teachers and students were commendable. 

    All the acts were well organized and wonderfully staged. The Chairman of school Management Committee Mr. Mandeep Dang, Academic Director Mrs. Veena Kaliya and Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal expressed their happiness over the commendable hard work and fruitful efforts of all the concerned teachers and students.

  • Inter House Hopscotch (class I – V) And Inter House Badminton Competition (class VI – X)

    Inter House Hopscotch (class I – V) and Inter House badminton competition (class VI – X) were held under Club activities on Saturday, 12th May 2018. In Inter House Hopscotch competition (Boys) Naman of Ruby House bagged the Winner’s position. Laraib of Topaz House came out a winner in Girls category.

    In Inter House Badminton Competition, Saksham Bisht of Sapphire House and Priyamvada of Ruby House came out winners in Boys and Girls single category respectively. Mixed Double contest was won by Vanshika and Arman of Topaz House.



    Among the delights of Summer were picnics to the woods. An adventurous picnic to Camp Song Brook, Maldevta where children enjoyed trekking, crossing Burma bridge etc. with delicious eatables, melodious song and dance it was enjoyable trip for our little champs..

  • TV 100 Education Excellence Awards 2016

    At a glittering function held by TV100 on 3rd Aug '17 in hotel Solitaire Doon World School were the proud winners of the award for being " Best Emerging CBSE School" in Dehradun. It was a proud moment for the school when the Chairman Mr. Mandeep Dang and Principal Mr. Rajiv Nagalia received the award from the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat. The function was well attended by representatives of leading schools, colleges, and universities of Dehradun and was followed by a grand dinner for all the awardees.

  • Mothers’ Day Celebration

    The school celebrated Mothers’ Day on 12th May 2018 with lots of grace and gratitude. This occasion provided an opportunity to pay tribute to all the mothers of the world and their selfless hard work to make this world a beautiful place to live in. The pre primary wing arranged several activities for the mothers. The students of LKG and UKG presented the song ‘Tu kitni achhi hai’. The students also presented skit, dance and poems to underline the importance of mother in our life. The mothers exhibited exemplary enthusiasm by participating in various fun games like Salad Chopping, bowl game, recognizing one’s own child with blindfold.


    The week starting from Monday,31st July 2017 was observed as a Maths week in school. The senior maths teacher gave a talk to the children during assembly on the importance of maths in day to day life. The children of class VII also presented a skit on the same theme during assembly. All the classes starting from Play group visited the Maths lab during the week and were explained age appropriate mathematical concept by their teachers.


    An Inter-house Quiz competition was held for classes V to IX on 5th May as part of club activities. The Quiz began with the introduction of the contestants from each House-team. Mrs. Suruchi Tiwari conducted the quiz in an interactive way. She announced the rules of the competition. The teams showed great enthusiasm and skills in answering the tricky quiz questions. Every time the teams answered incorrectly, the audience was given a chance to answer.

    The questions were primarily focused on Labours day and Health & hygiene. The Rapid-fire round was a chance for the different teams to catch up with leaders. The teams put up a good contest to one another. The Emerald House performed better than others and was adjudged Winner. The Sapphire House bagged the second position.

    Being proud citizens of the world's largest democracy, we enjoy the Right to Vote, thereby electing our own government. This gives us a sense of responsibility and boosts our confidence. 
    In order to make our small children learn to elect their representatives and develop a sense of responsibility towards the school, the school conducted a MOCK ELECTIONS for classes IV-IX for the PREFECTORIAL BODY of the school.The staff also voted in the election.The elections made the children aware about election canvassing, electoral list, ballot paper,secret ballot, marking with indelible ink, valid and invalid votes. The procedure followed was identical to the one followed in civic elections in the country.


    A health check up camp was organized by the School on Sunday, 6th May 2018 for the entire school, including all the teachers. The medical team lead by Dr. Kshitij Jayal and Dr. Kavita Jayal conducted the medical camp for general physical examination, BMI checkup, dental checkup etc. They also addressed specific medical issues of children & teachers. Necessary medical advice and precautionary measures were given to the students.Its main purpose was to maintain good health in students. A health record was maintained for each student. This helps parents in understanding the health of their ward.


    The children of Pre - primary section visited General Post Office of Dehradun on 28th April 2017. They were taken around the building & shown the speed post, parceling, dispatch & philately section etc.
    The GPO also very kindly served refreshment to both the students & teachers. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by the students.  



    The week starting on 24th July 2017 was observed as Personal Hygiene Week by the pre- primary section of the school. Activities were conducted to explain the Importance of personal cleanliness which included the brushing of teeth, use of handkerchief & wearing clean clothes. Children were also taught the rudiments of table manners.

  • Inter Class English Poem Group Recitation Competition

    Inter Class English Poem Group Recitation Competition was held on Thursday,3rd May. The students recited poems on different themes like Story telling, Comedy, Nature, Classic Poem etc. Different classes tried their best to be better than others. The presentations were judged on different points like choice of the poem, introduction, pronunciation, modulation, memory,presentation etc.


    The Inter House Hindi One Act Play competition was held on Saturday,29th July 2017. The four houses put up plays of approximately 15 to 20 minutes each. The plays were light situational comedies and political and social satires. The performance were of a very high level with the children demonstrating tremendous acting talent. Ruby house stood first in the competition...


    The school hosted a wonderful cultural event on Wednesday,2nd May,2018. The renowned 'Sattriya' (Assemese classical dance) dancer Dr. Anvesa Mahanta demonstrated different mythological characters and events through her performance. She presented 'Dashawatar' 'Krishna Bal Leela' and 'Putna vadh'. Her crisp movements and subtle expression held the audience spell bound. She taught the students different movements and expressions(mudras) of 'Sattriya' dance form. She was assisted and supported by Mr. Hari Saikia on Khol (a sort of percussion) Mr. Bayan (vocal) and Mr. Barua on flute. The students, teachers and the visitors enjoyed the performance very much. The event was organised by Spic Macay, Dehradun.



    The children of classes V,VI,VII & IX visited to the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology on 21st July 2017. The children visited the Institute museum & lab where they saw specimens of fossils, rare plants & a seismograph etc. They learnt that the seismograph was recording seismic data sent by seismometers of the Institute buried deep in the ground. The visit was a very informative & interesting one.


    The Labour Day was observed in School on 1st May,2018 in a graceful manner to pay tribute to the dedicated hard work & labour of the group D employees. Paying tribute to the important work done by these unsung heroes, the Principal said that the maids, guards,sweepers, gardeners and other group D employees are as an important component of the school systems as anyone else. They seem to be at the bottom of the system but they are inevitable for the smooth and organised functions of the school. On this occasion Mrs. Manpreet Bakshi delivered a talk on the importance of the Labour Day. The Principal gave away presents to the group D staff as a token of honour to their great service.


    The joyous spring harvest festival of Baisakhi was celebrated on 13th April 2018 in School with great zest & zeal. The celebration began with Sabad path by Gunmeet & Gurpreet, students of class X. It was followed by fabulous dance performances by students and teachers. Academic co-ordinator Mrs. Vandana Narang threw light on the rich tradition of Baisakhi celebration in India.


    The students of Kindergarten put up a grand stage show when they presented the activities they learnt during the session. First the students of UKG presented English and Hindi songs. They also presented an English play ‘Goldilocks & the Three Bears’. A Hindi story was also presented by them. Then it was the turn of the students of LKG who presented a couple of English songs, ‘Give me a Bell to Ring’ and ‘God’s Love’. The youngest kids of Play Group presented the rhyme ‘Up in the Sky’ and the Hindi song ‘Hum honge kaamyab’. Finally the students of UKG and LKG mesmerized the audience with their breathtaking Marathi dance presentation. The principal appreciated the efforts and hard work of the students and the teachers.


    The Pre primary wing of DWS visited the famous Buddha Temple on 22nd February 2018. They were escorted by the teachers of their wing. It was an opportunity for the kids to learn about Lord Buddha and his teachings. The students were very happy to see the different statues erected there as well as the imposing view of the temple. They enjoyed playing in the beautiful green lawns and had their lunch there. It was a great experience for the children.


    The DWS students fared brilliantly well at the Silver Zone Foundation Science & Maths Olympiad. Abhinav Semwal of class I, Vaibhav Rawat of class IV, Dhairya Pant of class VI and Sanchit Gusain of class VIII were awarded with gold medals for their brilliant performance in Science Olympiad. Arpit Nautiyal of class II bagged the silver medal. Similarly Abhinav Semwal of class I and Ayushman Rana of class II bagged gold medals in Maths Olympiad. Subuhi Naqvi of class I won silver and Ayush Bhatt of class I was awarded bronze medal in Maths Olympiad.The achievers were felicitated in the morning assembly.


    The DWS students, girls in particular, made their presence felt at the PPSA Interschool Badminton Championship held at the Cambrian Hall School. The girls won both their initial matches against the host school. In the second round Priyamvada Thapliyal and Vanshika Sharma out classed their rivals and made it to the semifinals. It is worth mentioning that it was the first ever exposure of the school to a big sports event.


    A workshop on 'how to effectively manage a classroom' was held in school on Sunday,11th February, 2018 by courtesy of Oxford University Press. The resource person Mrs. Madhu Sharma gave the teachers several tips to manage their classrooms effectively and efficiently. The teachers learnt different things related to classroom management by performing different tasks. The resource person told them how to prepare themselves for future challenges in the field of teaching.


    On 10th Feb' 2018, the children of classes IV to IX went to the Regional Science Centre situated at Jhajhra. Before entering the centre, the children saw a working model of a simple camera, sympathetic sensing and a gravity chair in the park. In the centre they saw a display that demonstrated the new frontiers of technology such as the world's largest molecule, a remote controlled car and an image processor. They learnt about ten peaks of the Himalayas and then saw a 3 D movie about Global Warming and its effects.


    Red Colour Day was celebrated on 30th January,2018 by the pre-primary wing of the school.The young kids were all in red dress. On this occasion a Red colour activity was held. The students coloured the drawings of some red fruits like strawberry,apple and pomegranate. The activity area was decorated with red coloured balloons. The children brought red coloured fruit from their home. The teachers prepared fruit chaat and served to the students. The teachers told the students benefits of red coloured fruit.

  • The Republic Day Celebration

    The 69th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great patriotic fervour and feelings. The celebration started with unfurling of the National Flag by the school Principal. It was followed by presentations of patriotic songs,dances and speeches by the students. A wonderful P.T drill was also performed. Addressing the students and the staff on the occasion, the Principal made an appeal to all, to work in solidarity to achieve the goal of nation building. A severe cold wave could not affect the enthusiasm and patriotic mood of the students. Even the youngest of the students attended the celebration and made their energetic presence felt with their presentations. Sweets were distributed among the students and the staff.


    A visit to a zoo provides a brilliant learning opportunity to the students. The kindergarten students visited the Malsi Deer Park, Dehradun on Thursday, December 28. It was part of the scheduled activities for the year. The children first visited the aviary where they saw parakeets, ostriches, emus and other birds from across the globe. They were excited to see the crocodiles resting and enjoying the sun. They also saw leopards and other wild animals. It was a thrilling experience for the young kids who watched different birds and animals for the first time in their life. There was wonder and amazement in the students’ eyes as they saw an animal for the first time. Their faces lighted up and their smiles came alive as they pointed to each animal in excitement.

  • Art And Craft Exhibition

    A grand Art & Craft exhibition was organized on Saturday 23 December on the theme ‘Unity in Diversity’. The students and the teachers displayed the characteristic features – important buildings, monuments, life style, and cuisines of different states. Huge multitudes of visitors appreciated the models and traditional craft and cuisine of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Punjab. But the centre of attraction was the home state Uttarakhand. Models of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Yamunotri, Hemkund Sahib and Nandadevi Raj jat along with Garhwali food grains, vegetables, fruits and ornaments mesmerized the visitors. The Kindergarten section exhibited models, wall hangings, origami art etc. on the theme ‘Best out of Waste’.


    A drawing and painting competition was held in School on Saturday, 25th Nov'17 to commemorate the Communal Harmony week. The event was organised by the courtesy of the Dehradun Police. 

    The students gave message of peace and harmony among people through their beautiful paintings. Insiya Zehra's (class VII) painting was adjudged as the best and was awarded a cash prize of Rs.1000/-.


    Inter House Poster Making Competition was held in school on 18th November '17 as part of co-curricular activities, each of the four Houses were assigned a different topic. The students used all their drawing and colouring skills to make their respective house a winner. The topic were:- 

    (i) Save a girl child

    (ii) Save Earth
    (iii) Pollution
    (iv) Save Environment
    The RUBY house won the competition with their brilliant poster on the topic Save Earth, the Emerald house stood second with the topic Save the Girl Child and the Sapphire house bagged the third position with their poster on Save Environment.


    A vaccination camp was held in school against Measles and Rubella virus on Saturday, 2nd Dec'17. The camp was organized by the state health department and was supported by the world Health Organization. The big turn out of parents along with their children was an evidence of the increasing health awareness among people from cross section of society. There were teams from State health department as well as from the World Health Organization. The school staff and the parents extended their active support in making the camp a successful event.

  • Christmas Celebration

    The DWS students presented the Nativity of Jesus in a graceful manner on 23rd December in the school auditorium. The Kindergarten children dressed in sparkling colourful costumes, presented dances. The students also sang carols. Santa Claus distributed sweets and gifts among the children. Capt. Alok Shekhar Tiwari, Addl. Secretary, ministry of Education, Uttarakhand was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. R. C. Lohani was present as Guest of honour. The first issue of the school newsletter DWS Highlights was also released on the occasion.

  • TV100 Education Award 2018

    Doon World School was presented with the prestigious TV100 Education Award 2018 as the Best CBSE School. The award was presented in a grand ceremony held at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi in gracious presence of the Chief Guest Mr. Santosh Gangwar, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labour and Employment, Mr. Shyam Jaju, National Vice President, BJP, Mr. Ajay Tamta, Minister of State for Textiles, Mr. Manoj Tiwari, MP, Delhi State BJP President, Mr. Anil Baluni, MP, National Media in charge, BJP, Mr. Subodh Uniyal, Minister of Agriculture, Uttarakhand and Dr. Priya Ranjan Trivedi, president, Confederation of Indian Universities. The school Chairman Mr. Mandeep Dang, Director Ms. Veena Kalia and the Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal congratulated all the staff members, students and the parents for this great achievement.

  • English Story Telling Competition

    Doon World School organised an English Story Telling Competition for the students of Pre primary classes with a view to instilling confidence and speaking skills in the students,. The teachers narrated the moral based stories with visuals and acting. It was an interactive session and the young students answered questions put up by the teachers during the story telling session. Each story ended with explanation of the moral values conveyed by it. The kids took a keen interest in the activity. Their enthusiasm, excitement, happiness and focus were commendable.


    The Inter house Chess Competition was held on Saturday, 7th November 2018 for both boys & girls (class VI – X). The players showed great decision taking skills while making moves on the chess board. They made amazing strategies to defeat the opponents. The supporters of different Houses also showed great enthusiasm to cheer their participants. Sapphire House outstripped others in both Boys and Girls categories. Gunmeet Singh in the Boys and Bhoomika in the Girls category came out as winners.

    There was Inter House Carom Competition for classes I – V. It was quite amazing to see how wonderfully the little fingers moved on the carom board. The carom skills of the participants at such a young age were really commendable. Arslan Alvi of Topaz House and Aditi Rana of Ruby House were winners in Boys and Girls category respectively.

  • Green Day

    The students of pre primary wing celebrated Green Day as part of co curricular activities. All the students and teachers were dressed in attractive green dresses. The students used different vegetables, fruits and paper craft to adorn themselves. The teachers told the students about the properties of green colour and also about the significance of greenery in our surroundings. The message of planting trees was also propagated through the event. The enthusiasm and happiness of the young kids was worth noticing.

  • Fancy Dress Competition

    The children of Pre primary wing participated in the Fancy Dress show held on July 11, 12 & 13, 2018. The theme of the activity was Fairy Tales. The children came dressed up like different fairy tale characters like fairies, dragon, elves, mermaids etc. Watching children moving here and there dressed up as popular fairy tale characters, was a treat to watch.

  • Hindi Poem Recitation

    Hindi poem Recitation activity for pre primary wing took place on 13 July 2018. The theme of the activity was Rain. The children recited poem describing different attributes of rain with action using some interesting props. It was wonderful to see the small kids performing happily on the rhymes. The colourful umbrellas that the kids carried added a rainbow effect to the entire event.


    The Inter House Hindi One Act Play Competition was held on 14th July 2018. The theme of each play was a contemporary issue. The participants put their best in their acting and it was amazing to see several students performing so brilliantly like experienced actors. The Emerald House bagged the first position for their play ‘Reedh ki Haddi’presenting the theme of gender discrimination. The Topaz House presented their play ‘Kathputli based on the theme ‘Every child is special’. They stood second. The third position was secured by the Sapphire House for showing the theme of superstition in their play Andhvishwas. The Ruby House showed the menace of overuse of internet and social networking sites in the play Cyber Addiction. The efforts of the different House teachers and students were commendable. 

    All the acts were well organized and wonderfully staged. The Chairman of school Management Committee Mr. Mandeep Dang, Academic Director Mrs. Veena Kaliya and Principal Mr. Santosh Kotiyal expressed their happiness over the commendable hard work and fruitful efforts of all the concerned teachers and students.
